Counterpoint
A POS and inventory app for brick-and-mortar shops with multiple locations
Counterpoint is a POS-and-inventory app for brick-and-mortar shops who run more than one location. It pairs an iPad-shaped point-of-sale on the counter with a real inventory system on the back end — purchase orders, transfers, cycle counts, supplier lead times — and a back-office web admin for the people who never touch the POS. It is built for the operator who has outgrown Square but does not need (or want to pay for) Lightspeed Retail.
Key features
- iPad POS with offline-first checkout (sales sync when signal returns)
- Inventory across multiple locations with transfer requests and approvals
- Purchase orders and supplier management with lead-time tracking
- Cycle counts and stocktakes with mobile barcode scanning
- Multi-tender checkout (cash, card, gift card, store credit, split tender)
- Customer loyalty (points, tiers, rewards) with email opt-in
- End-of-day cash reconciliation with discrepancy reporting
- Reporting on margin, velocity, stockouts, and per-location P&L
Architecture
Built on the Vertical SaaS Stack.
What you get
Counterpoint launches as a paired iPad POS and back-office admin under your brand. Card readers (Stripe Terminal) ship directly to the customer’s locations with the customer’s branding on the receipt. Day-one onboarding seeds a starter product catalog by category and gets the first sale through within an hour.
Sample customer story (placeholder — illustrative only)
A 6-location specialty cheese-and-charcuterie chain licensed Counterpoint to escape a Square setup that did not handle their inter-location transfers and a separate Excel-based purchasing process that always lagged by a week. Within ninety days the inventory accuracy at the central warehouse rose from “we re-count every Friday and still get surprised” to “monthly cycle counts within 2% variance” — a number their CFO finally trusted to use for cash-flow planning.
What’s NOT included
- E-commerce storefront. Counterpoint runs the brick-and-mortar; for a customer-facing online store, pair with Storeline (the two share product catalog).
- Restaurant kitchen-display systems and table management. Possible as a paid customization, but the out-of-the-box product is retail-shaped.
- Manufacturing / BOM / assembly. Out of scope.
- Self-checkout / kiosk mode. A paid Pass-2 customization that turns the iPad app into a customer-facing kiosk.
