Clockwise

PTO, time tracking, and timesheets without ten years of HRIS bloat

Clockwise is a focused PTO + time tracking + timesheet app for SMB and lower-mid-market teams. It does the boring middle of HR-adjacent time admin extremely well — request and approve PTO, log hours against projects, export a clean timesheet for payroll — and stops there. It is not an HRIS, not a payroll engine, and not a benefits broker, and that is the point.

Key features

  • Self-service PTO requests with approval chains and balance tracking
  • Time tracking by project / client / task with timer, manual, or import
  • Timesheets with auto-fill from calendar and detected idle time
  • Configurable accrual rules per locale (US, UK, EU country presets included)
  • Holiday calendars per office with rollover and carry-forward policies
  • CSV and API export to Gusto, Rippling, ADP, QuickBooks Time
  • Approver dashboards with bulk approve and conflict detection
  • SSO and Slack/Teams approval flows on Enterprise tiers

What you get

Clockwise lands as a multi-tenant SaaS under your brand. The first office, holiday calendar, and approval policy are seeded during onboarding. Most teams have their PTO live by end of week one, with timesheet flows phased in afterward.

Sample customer story (placeholder — illustrative only)

A 65-person digital agency licensed Clockwise to replace a homegrown PTO spreadsheet and a separate Toggl instance. The win was reconciliation: project P&L reports finally tied out to the same hours that engineers reported on timesheets, because both numbers came from the same tool. Three months later the agency’s CFO reported their first non-disputed billable-hour audit.

What’s NOT included

  • Payroll. Clockwise exports clean data; Gusto, Rippling, ADP, or your existing payroll engine pays the people. Payroll Co (also in the AppLiaison library) is the answer if you want both under your brand.
  • Benefits broker / 401k administration. Out of scope by design.
  • Headcount planning, ATS, performance reviews. None of these. Clockwise is not an HRIS.
  • Compliance certifications beyond SOC 2. HIPAA / FedRAMP / ISO 27001 are paid engagements on the License model.
